The Territory needs a Government that will take immediate action on crime while addressing root causes.

Address Root Causes

Address Root Causes

Education and training is vital to drive down crime. We will get kids to school, hold parents accountable and we’ll make youth diversion programs mandatory not ‘optional’ as they are now.

Stronger Bail

Stronger Bail

We will immediately strengthen the laws to stop the revolving door of bail so serious violent offenders aren’t back on the streets committing more crime. We will make breach of bail an offence to clamp down on repeat offenders.

Consequences for Crime

Consequences for Crime

The removal of consequences means criminals know they can get away with offending and it’s Territorians paying the price. We will put in place mandatory community service and focus on restitution for victims. If you commit a crime, you will face the consequences you deserve.

Stop Problem Drunks

Stop Problem Drunks

By targeting problem drinking with new laws and more powers for police, we can clean up public spaces. With compulsory alcohol rehabilitation programs both inside and outside correctional facilities we will target the demand for alcohol, not just supply.

Bootcamps & Skills Training

Bootcamps & Skills Training

Only the CLP can deliver bootcamps and those serving time will be taught job ready skills. Mandatory community service, boot camps, skills training and prisoners going to work, will drive down crime and break the cycle of reoffending.

Support Our Police

Support Our Police

We will give police better powers to deal with youth offenders, public drinking and knife crime. We’ll fund continuous police recruitment and keep police on the job.

Back Our Workers and Business

Back Our Workers and Business

Crime is having a negative impact on our economy. It is increasing insurance costs, driving away tourists and staff, and forcing businesses to close their doors. We will immediately make stronger laws that protect workers by having a minimum mandatory sentence for anyone who assaults someone at work and make ram raids a stand alone offence.
