ABOUT LIA

I am a born and bred Territorian with an endless love for the Territory.

I was fortunate to grow up in Palmerston and attend local schools right through to the end of year 12.

Upon returning to Darwin after obtaining my Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of International Studies at the University of Adelaide I worked at a top tier national law firm and later specialised in commercial litigation at a home grown firm.

During my time as a lawyer I immersed myself in pro bono work and the business, social and multicultural communities of the Top End.

My time as President of Business and Professional Women (Darwin) and Secretary of the Palmerston Regional Business Association were valuable experiences that helped develop my understanding of the importance of local business to our economy and social fabric.  For my work in these organisations I was named an Australian of the Year Young Achiever (NT) finalist.

On 25 August 2012 I was elected Member for Drysdale and served in many roles during my term including Government Whip, Chair of the Public Accounts Committee and member of the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee.

Following significant redistribution of the Drysdale Electorate, I was elected in 2016 as the Member for Spillett and hold the position of Deputy Leader of the Opposition and a number of Shadow Ministries.  I also serve on the Social Policy Scrutiny Committee and Public Accounts Committees of the Legislative Assembly.

It is an honour to be the patron of the Palmerston Football Club, Palmerston Combined Probus Club, Palmerston Cricket Club and joint patron of Young Professionals Network NT.

I am fiercely passionate about grassroots representation in parliament and spend much of my time immersed in my electorate. I focus on making myself accessible and accountable to Territorians.  As a community representative, I have a duty to help grow the Territory for future generations by fiercely protecting our lifestyle and ensuring ongoing economic prosperity.

I have two beautiful children and a supportive husband who keep me centred, and I value spending time with my family and friends when I am not serving my community.
